What a wonderful day in Washington DC !  The hotel in which we are staying goes for $219/nigh, but we booked a couple of months ago for $119/night.  It is on Capitol Hill, just a couple of blocks from the Capitol.
This includes a great breakfast ! We have a mini-kitchen with a refrigerator and microwave.

After breakfast, we walked to Union Station and caught the Grayline Open Top Sightseeing Bus.  We bought a two-day pass and can hop on and hop off whenever we want.  Also includes a 45-minute river cruise.

We got off the bus to eat lunch at Rosa Mexicano, which is an "upscale" modern Mexican restaurant.  Afterwards, we went into the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, for which admission is free.

I am soooo glad you can find tourist-stuff in our nation's capitol !!

A house across the street from the Ford Theatre .... since we have the Golden Age Passport for the National Parks, this didn't cost us anything.

Huge Union Station with lot of shops and restaurants.  We thought the one in Los Angeles was more impressive !

 The sun was out all day and it was quite nice, if a little bit warm.  Now, at 7 PM, it has started raining.  We'll see what the weather is like tomorrow before we make our plans.  The rain won't stop us !!!!!!!!!
