Happy May Day!  We headed to Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial.
.
The countryside is changing, with less open farmland and more trees.
Wooden bridge that we passed under on way to Mount Rushmore
Beautiful countryside

Mount Rushmore
This was so awesome!  We really are impressed with this monument.  There is no way you can appreciate this from the pictures.
Then we drove on to Crazy Horse ...

Then we headed out to Sundance, Wyoming, to visit with friends who have retired there.  The sun is shining, the skies are beautiful and we are really enjoying this drive !
Beautiful skies !

We missed our turnoff to Sundance and had to drive through Spearfish Canyon.  What a wonderful experience it was, too.
Reminded us of Sedona !
Can you believe that there is still snow on the ground?
We drove through the Black Hills and really were impressed.  Anna met us at the offramp and we followed her down several dirt roads to their place.  They have 70 acres on which they built a beautiful house and barn.  The view is just so beautiful !
